The 2025 Riesling Ried Achleiten Smaragd is a 3-D vision of this site, looking west, east and south, from vines planted in the 1950s and 1990s. Gorgeous white peach seems steeped in lime and grapefruit zest. That absolute citrus slenderness carries onto the palate, where it drills down into rock, linear, uncompromising, svelte and very stony. This is austere now but will be a marvel in the future, with alluring purity and strait-laced poise. 98 points
