2023 Vigneau-Chevreau Vouvray Clos Rougemont
Secondary Description
A tense and exciting wine, and a brilliantly characterful example of dry Loire Chenin Blanc. It does most of the things a great white wine can do; it’s got a honeyed acidity with bright citrus notes (think lime and pomelo) followed by a creamy, leesy mid-palate and a salty finish – just great stuff. The Clos Rougemont vineyard lies within the grounds of the Abbaye de Marmoutier, in the outskirts of the city of Tours, and has long been recognised as one of the best sites in Vouvray. The Abbey allows local family winery Vigneau-Chevreau to take care of farming and winemaking, with brilliant results. (NT 24/03/26)
