Joe Czerwinski
Just a hint off-dry at 4.5 grams per liter residual sugar, the 2016 Craighall Vineyard Riesling saw more time on its lees than previous vintages. At 11.5% alcohol, it`s similar in style to a German trocken, boasting subtle green apple, lime and green gage plum notes and a medium body. Intense and concentrated, the wine finishes long, with a hint of silkiness and a bit of chalk dust. 92 points

The Craighall vineyard was planted in the mid to late 1980s. pH 3, TA 8.1 g/l, RS 6 g/l. No oak but long time on lees – nine months. Three different picks from north–south oriented and east–west oriented blocks, one of which gives lovely acidity. Blend beneficial. Planted in mid 1980s. These aromas don’t recall Germany at all, but more Clare Valley. Seems bone dry and has masses of acidity but definite crystalline quality. Unsweetened lime juice. Promising. 17 points
