The legal minimum age for a VSOP (Very Special Old Pale) Cognac is five years. Most of the commercial ones are and boy, do they taste like it. Montifaud is 10yo and is smoother, richer and more complex as a result. Not as raw and spirity as the younger competition - though it is a spirit - it has depth and is fantastic value. (CW 29/09/11)
