The 2023 Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec from Domaine Huet is another beautiful example of the vintage. As is often the case these days, this wine comes in a half point higher in octane than the Le Mont version, tipping the scales at 13.5 percent alcohol. The wine offers up a superb aromatic constellation of sweet quince, yellow plum, beeswax, honeycomb, chalky minerality, lanolin and a topnote of citrus blossoms. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced, with a lovely core of fruit, just a whisper of early honey tones, good acids and focus and a long, succulent and very tasty finish. This is another beautiful bottle of Demi-Sec, but it does not quite have the filigree of the Le Mont version this year. 94 points

The 2023 Vouvray Demi-Sec Clos du Bourg is like a child hiding under a blanket, much like the 2023 Sec. It coats the palate with its caress. The concentration and precision are all there, but it is closed aromatically and rather restricted—like a flower waiting to open. I can`t wait to taste this again in a few months` time. There’s a lot of potential here, but it wouldn`t be right to provide a rating at this moment.
