A full half of the domaine, this is by far the largest single production of any cuvee, and comes from several parcels, mainly at the southern end of Chassagne. ‘More parcels means more complexity,’ says Alex. This is crisp and racy, full of lemon, pear and blossom notes, with a dusting of white pepper. Lots of energy in the mouth. This bottling is always a personal favourite; the depth of flavour and potential to age is immediately apparent. It may have been a hot year, but no sense of heat at all in this vibrant, fresh wine. Pale lemon, a steely white fruit on the nose though quite discreet. Some riper notes on the back of the palate but still this is mainly about a crystalline energy, more backward less flowing than usual but it is all there, with a useful tension to finish. 89-91 points
