Fresh and vivacious, the first impression here is a rush of lemon, lime and bay notes. Quinta Apolonia is a young vine cuvee given a little lees-stirring and a short stay in older oak barrels, which brings focus to the sheer natural energy of Verdejo. The crisp attack is followed by a certain creamy weight on the mid-palate, then a renewed jolt of energy on the finish. Works as well as a standalone aperitif as it does beside a selection of classic white wine food matches. Try it against roast chicken. (NT 31/10/23)

The 2022 Verdejo Quinta Apolonia, originating from the DO Rueda, spent up to one year in French oak, 25% new. The nose unfolds with notes of peach, melon, quince and fennel. Creamy and saline on the palate, the velvety and refreshing flow lingers long on a balanced and concentrated finale. This is distinctive and delicious. 93 points
