Bruna Grimaldi Barolo Bricco Ambrogio

Media Reviews

Monica Larner

The Bruna Grimaldi 2021 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio reveals a bouquet that is initially timid and takes a little extra time to find focus. Once it does, it delivers cassis, dark currant and spice. It has crushed rose and licorice, but your attention is drawn to mostly red and blue fruits. There is a hint of tea leaf or tobacco that gives the wine a slightly savory side. This MGA is located in Roddi at 270 meters in elevation with southeast and southern exposures. Production is 5,013 bottles. 93 points

Kerin O’Keefe

The 2021 Bricco Ambrogio from Bruna Grimaldi is smooth and delicious, featuring layers of juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, cake spice and star anise. Velvety tannins provide elegant support while fresh acidity keeps it balanced and bright. This is already almost at the start of its ideal drinking window where it will stay for years. Drink 2027–2036. 95 points

Antonio Galloni

The 2021 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is a fine effort in this range from Bruna Grimaldi. Floral, delicate and medium in body, the 2021 caresses the palate from start to finish. This is classic Bricco Ambrogio all the way. Time in the glass brings out hints of hard candy, dried flowers, mint and herbs. What a pretty wine this is. 93 points
