2019 Angludet (Margaux)

45% Cabernet Sauvignon/43% Merlot/12% Petit Verdot 13.5% alcohol, Yield 49 hL/ha 12 months aging: 50% barrels (30% new French oak), 50% amphorae. A real success. Lovely fresh blueberry/blackberry nose, then floral, very pure, hints of spice, cedar and graphite, very Margaux. Mid-weight, pretty, with a certain stony minerality sitting in the background. For the first time ever here the aging regime will combine barrel and amphorae, the aim being to improve purity of fruit, elegance and structure. (NT 18/05/20)

Neal Martin

The 2019 d’Angludet is the first vintage with partial aging in clay amphora (30%); around 35% of the barrels were new. I must confess that I like the aromatics here: macerated red cherries, crushed strawberry and raspberry fruit, a little earthiness and a hint of leather. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, and clean, fresh fruit that merges into more tertiary, slightly peppery notes toward the finish. Fine. 91 points
