Secondary Description
Bourbon hogshead
Not a single malt but a single grain whisky, from one of Scotland`s only six dedicated grain distilleries. Invergordon is also by far the most northerly of these, up on the Cromarty Firth, while the others cluster around the Lowlands. In Scotland, by law, grain whisky is made from a blend of barley (as in malt whisky) and another grain (usually corn). Grain whiskies do tend to be richer and sweeter than their malt counterparts. With confectionary notes of fudge, toffee and caramel, this beauty of a whisky takes me right back to a childhood memory of standing outside an Edinburgh fudge shop, taking in the smells and counting my pocket money.
