But oh, those summer nights
Summer's not just about whites and barely visible rosés; us red wine drinkers need our fix too. In the freedom that summer gives let's look at wines that suit the light and warmth.
All the wines below are on tasting today and in our mixed case. You'll have a chance to try an often misunderstood but truly fabulous Lambrusco: originating in the land of Parma ham and balsamic, this acts as a perfect partner to flavourful picnic boards, and the light fizz brings a subtle sense of celebration. Also on offer is the Schnaitmann Lemberger, which you might more readily recognise as Blaufrankisch; a lovely, dark-fruited German red which makes a great match for barbecued sausages and a crunchy red cabbage salad. And, in the spirit of the Great British Summer, we've even found an English red made from the early-ripening Pinot Noir Précoce, boasting bright cherry flavours as well as delicate overtones of violet and white pepper. Then there's a classic cru Beaujolais: quintessentially joyful Gamay fruit. Want something more mature? There's an Uncorked favourite in the shape of Le Soula from high up in the French Catalan hills of Roussillon. Finally, we've got you the elegant raspberry-scented Etna Rosso from SRC. /RRS
