The village of Chambolle-Musigny is known for a certain style of Burgundy, delicate and lacy on the surface, but with a depth that rewards aging. It's also home to several favourite Uncorked growers. Felettig has experienced a meteoric rise in its reputation over recent vintages, and is now one of the most highly-regarded in the village. Over the last decade, vineyard management has become much more exacting, and the cellar approach much gentler; together, these innovations have led to genuinely spectacular results. The 2023s here are a smart set of wines given a spicy kick by some posh oak.
Louis Boillot shares a Chambolle cellar with his other half, Ghislaine Barthod. But he hails from the village of Volnay, where he has some great old vine holdings. His 2023s are fresh and balanced, with fine tannins. In Uncorked's notes, these are 'chatty' wines, easy to read and full of a sense of where they come from.
And at Sigaut, Anne and Herve Sigaut are quietly making very classic Chambolle-Musigny. They took over thirty years ago, and have been refining their act ever since. They destem their grapes, follow the lunar calender and plough by horse; in the cellar, it's all about restraint. Their 2023s brim with definition; they are perfumed and complex, and to our palate, they are the best of recent vintages. /NT
