More like 14 years old though it is labelled as a 10 Year Old. ‘An edgy adolescent’, suggests Niepoort. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Roriz. Aged in small old oak casks (550 litres) in Vila Nova de Gaia, over many years. The master blender is José Nogueira. pH 3.54, RS 110 g/l.More complex on the nose than the Senior Tawny. There’s a dusty character as well as orange and red fruits. Light pinky brick. Still has so much red-cherry fruit on the nose. Smooth, silky but with greater depth than the Senior. Just so much cherry flavour for a tawny. Sweet yet fresh and dancing, spikes of freshness. Much less aggressive than most 10 Year Old tawnies. 17 points
