N.V. Scarpa Vermouth di Torino Rosso 18%

Scarpa vermouths are made slowly, painstakingly and locally by the eponymous Langhe producer. Using 30% Moscato wine they are made with less sugar than the majority of other vermouths and have slightly higher bitterness levels as well as a great selection of mostly Piedmontese herbs. These are macerated for extended periods at the ambient cellar temperature, not heated to speed up the process. Great in a negroni, Manhattan or just a simple gin and It. (CW 23/09/19)
