The great thing about growers` own champagnes is that they are meticulous about their vines, and have complete control over all aspects of their grapes. Didier Gallimard and his son Arnaud own ten hectares of prime vineyards on the steep slopes around Les Riceys in the southern Aube. Their Cuvee de Reserve is pure Pinot Noir, and has all the generosity of floral and red fruit notes a Pinot Noir-driven Champagne can offer. Possibly the best value Champagne around. (NT 16/10/23)
