Red robe; the nose is leafy, on white pepper, drifts of raspberry, is reduced, a little strained, shows some vintage fragility, needs decanting. The palate produces a clear line of raspberry, a little floral-mineral sideline, has a sense of fibre through it, not optimal ripening. It drinks clearly, with some zap, could have greater body, but is up for white meats dishes right now, post decanting. It’s linear, a bit spare, the finish currently dry, but does have some fruit merit, even if the content is low-key in depth. Bottled already. 13°. ***

The 2024 Saint-Joseph Les Cotes is a little reductive at first, gradually revealing just-ripe blackberry, black cherry and spicy inflections. Medium-bodied and smoothed-out, the 2024 is a naturally welcoming red Saint-Joseph, rounding off with delicacy on the elegant epilogue. 89 points
