John Livingstone-Learmonth
(cask) dark robe; the nose has a brooding presence, a mix of black olives denoting sun, ripeness, with smoky blue fruit, bacon airs attached. There is variety to come, is promising. The palate gives a good, typical Genale location wine, is marked by its natural south facing sun ray richness that rolls along well this year, has a sunny attack, a deft presentation, carries floral-violet aromatics into the white peppered finish, a little powdered assertion from the tannins there. It’s subtly complex, carries nuances, is savoury and tasty, and will merit serving from another three years or so, hits the mark on style and understated terroir truth. Drink 2045-47. ****(*)
