The 2024 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru comes from a single parcel of which one-quarter is planted with white and the rest replying to the name Pinot. This has a well-defined bouquet with bright redcurrant and cranberry fruit, just a light touch of forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins (not as ‘crunchy’ as others), a touch of sour cherry mixed with strawberry gaining a little more rondeur as it glides towards its unprepossessing finish. Very fine. 90-92 points

A paler crimson than the Volnay. A less fruit forward bouquet. Narrower, still quite fine, slightly more tannic at the end. Still a good wine but suffers after the exquisite Volnay. 89-91 points
