Monica Larner
The Catherine Marshall 2024 Pinot Noir on Clay Soils draws on fruit from Elgin (33%) and the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge (67%), two cool-climate sites shaped by strong maritime influence and clay-rich shale soils that are well suited to Pinot Noir. Pale ruby in color and nuanced, the wine currently shows elegant primary fruit notes of forest berries and blood orange. The palate is accessible yet pure and bright, standing out for its clarity and freshness, with natural acidity preserved by the growing conditions typical of these coastal wards. Production is limited to 5,340 bottles. 92 points
