Neal Martin
The 2024 Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru represents six barrels this year, which Millot remarked was not too bad for the year. It has a straightforward raspberry and mulberry-scented nose with touches of bell pepper in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit. Quite bony in style, it needs a little more flesh on the mid-palate and is quite linear on the finish. Fine. 87-89 points

The Santenots, with a yield of 30 hl/ha, made up half the Ballot-Millot red production in 2024. Mid crimson with a lighter rim, quite an attractive strawberry perfume, medium bodied but with a little more weight further back. Soft yet with adequate tension and tannins to maintain the balance. 89-91 points
