Fermented in Clay Chenin Blanc
Pithy lime and lemon-curd aromas, crystalline and pure. The palate shows more of the same, with brightness tempered by texture. Dances towards a more mellow finish, where stonefruit peeks through. Lovely, and quite more-ish! A blend of fruit from Elgin and Stellenbosch, aged in locally-crafted amphorae and neutral oak vessels. (JH 24/04/2025)

This charming value wine represents a blend of fruit from Elgin and Stellenbosch. The Catherine Marshall 2023 Fermented in Clay Chenin Blanc (in the bottle with the red wax capsule) ages in hand-shaped amphorae (90% of the total) for 11 months, with a small percentage in neutral oak. As a result, you get good transparency of its fruit flavors with preserved lemon, dried apricot and creamed corn. As few moments later, you are aware of an earthy mineral note that gives this mid-weight white a pretty savory side. 91 points
