2022 Clos La Coutale (Cahors)
Secondary Description
Chocolate and black tea and sweet berry coulis; this is a generous wine, not structured for long aging but immensely drinkable now. A hint of vanilla mingles with the earthy notes of black tea on the finish. Cahors is the historical birthplace of the Cot grape variety, much better known nowadays as Malbec. Once upon a time this `black wine` of Cahors was consumed by pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela. Whether you`re having duck or sausages, cassoulet or steak and chips, no matter; this wine is your friend. (NT 22/09/21)

Tamlyn Currin
This gem of a wine, with its mulberry and candied raspberry fruit in a cough-sweet wrapper, is a real delight. The tannins are silk-shift shiny and fine, and the fruit rushes through to fill every corner with juice and energy. Lithe and lively, showing the kind of modern, effortless balance that means this will taste as good now as it will 10 years down the line. Well done, Philippe and Sébastien Bernède! A really useful wine for large gatherings. And GV. 16.5 points
