Eric Guido
The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a cascade of sweet violet and lavender tones before settling on dried roses and cherries. It is elegant and nearly weighty in feel, with tantalizing acidity to balance and cool-toned red berry fruits swirling throughout. The 2021 turns inward on itself through the finish, long and pleasantly tart, as fine-grained tannin frames the experience beautifully. 94 points

Underbrush, new leather, dark spice and lavender aromas come to the forefront on the fragrant Sesti 2021 Brunello. Full-bodied and delicious, this is already almost accessible, offering layers of flavors including ripe red cherry, wild raspberry, star anise and cake spice alongside close-grained but well-integrated tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it lifted. Drink 2028–2038. 95 ponts
