2021 NerinTerra (Priorat)

Damson and iris, bacon fat and candlewax, terracotta tiles baking in the sun - this is a beautiful, serious expression of Priorat. There`s a creamy richness from barrel elevage across the mid-palate, and a quartz-rock minerality that comes across in the finish. It has been made from a blend of Garnacha and old-vine Carignan, from a formerly abandoned vineyard that took five years of hard work to recondition. The Garnacha clings to narrow terraces on a mix of limestone and Priorat`s iconic licorella soils, the Carignan comes from clay-rich soil on an old riverbed at the base of the slope. A deep and sophisticated wine. (NT 26/06/25)

Luis Gutierrez

The 2021 Nerin Terra was produced with a blend of 77% Garnacha, 18% Cariñena and 5% other varieties from a single plot, Clos de l`Afaitador, between El Molar and Bellmunt. The varieties ripen at different moments and fermented separately, destemmed and with indigenous yeasts. The wine matured in used 300- and 500-liter French oak barrels for 24 months. It comes through in an elegant and not so extracted or oaked style, respecting the character of the place in a balanced and subtle way, but it`s not a shy wine; it has full ripeness and 15% alcohol that goes unnoticed, balanced by very good freshness, reflected by a pH of 3.4. It`s textured and fine-boned, with elegant tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. An elegant Priorat, yes. 3,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024. 94 points
