Fratelli Alessandria started bottling Monvigliero back in 1978. The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero (with 7,000 bottles released) is a wine of extreme elegance and grace. It shows wild berry, redcurrant, lilac and light spice. Fruit comes from a 1.4-hectare plot with south and southwest exposures on silty limestone soils. There is a pretty note of floral sweetness over polished tannins that makes for a lasting impression. 96+ points

The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is one of the best wines I have tasted from Fratelli Alessandria in some time. The aromatics alone are haunting in their beauty. Rose petal, tangerine peel, cinnamon, kirsch, pomegranate and mint explode from the glass. Beams of supporting tannin give the wine its vertical build. This is such a promising Barolo. It could very well turn out to be one of the wines of the vintage. Drink 2028 - 2045. 95-97 points

Showing class and an earthy finesse, the 2021 Monvigliero opens with alluring aromas of eucalyptus, succulent black-skinned fruit, truffle and tobacco. Reflecting the nose, the delicious, enveloping palate delivers layers of ripe black cherry, crushed raspberry, tobacco and licorice before closing on a hint of game. Drink 2029–2041. 95 points
