Tense, serious Chardonnay. Zesty and tight on opening, with struck match reduction, wood-spice and complex fruit - red apple, pear, kiwi and lime. Grippy and structured, very impressive and a little intimidating; you can see the quality, but it`s not as much fun as it should be... decanting makes a huge difference, opening the wine up to reveal rich, creamy vanilla mingled with lemon and lime. This is exceptionally fine, beautifully constructed with long-term potential. Can be enjoyed now, with a little patience, or held until 2040 or even longer. (JH 09/11/2023)
