2020 Louis Jadot Chassagne Morgeot Chapelle
Secondary Description
Domaine Duc de Magenta, Clos de la Chapelle
Clos de la Chapelle is a walled 4.6 hectare vineyard entirely within Chassagne-Montrachet’s Morgeot premier cru; the Clos itself is a monopole of Domaine Duc de Magenta, and Louis Jadot both manages the vineyard and make the wine. Morgeot always tends to make a fuller style of Chassagne-Montrachet, and this is full-bodied, intense and aromatic, packed with notes of lemon, mandarin and sea spray. It is high energy and big-boned, with a stony, slightly toasty finish. (NT 07/01/22)

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle 1er Cru has a taut, fresh, vibrant bouquet with yellow flowers intermixed with light citrus scents, gravel and jasmine. The palate is smooth and harmonious, tangerine and nectarine on the entry, moderate weight with a slightly pithy finish. I am intrigued to see how this will develop. Closure: Diam 91-93 points

Full clear bright purple. A linear red fruit nose, ripe enough but slightly strict. Quite a green touch like in the Pernand, a little bit chocolatey behind, not quite so well at ease as Dominode. The tannins are a little greener and tougher. 89-92 points
