The 2019 Sancerre Les Chailloux comes from just two parcels with 40- to 47-years-old vines on silex soils at 250 meters in altitude and spent 14 months on the lees prior to the bottling in December 2020. The wine shows an intense citrus color and opens with a spectacular deep, dense and concentrated yet complex and stony nose with ripe fruit aromas and hazelnut and nougat notes. This is terroir a wine of great class, and it opens with stunningly aromatic fruit on the palate, reminiscent of nothing less than Gewurtztraminer. However, that might be only for the moment, but the finish and structure will remain. The wine is complex but also elegant, refined and vital, with a crystalline and slightly chalky tannin structure and a seriously long and structured finish with rich and intense but interwoven and discreet fruit. Les Chailloux is another highlight of the 2019 collection. 95 points
