The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots 1er Cru is elegant and refined on the nose, a mixture of blackberry, sous-bois and a light sea spray aroma. It just needs to gel together and it should do during the remainder of its barrel maturation. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Very Morey in style with a sense of conservatism and linearity on the white pepper-dashed finish, I appreciate its persistence in the mouth. Cellar this for 4-5 years. 92-94 points

What a brilliant, brilliant bouquet. The first wine in the series where I can smell a proportion of whole bunches and it just lifts the wine to another level. The colour is a glowing purple but that really does not matter. Let me smell this again!! Perfection of balance, joy of texture, succulence of the gods, and of course a tremendous persistence. Utterly brilliant wine. Racy and delicious, with a fine flowing finish. 94-97 points
