2017 Tentenublo Escondite Ardacho Guillermas

A pretty shade of purple, with plum, black cherry, damson and kirsch aromas, along with a creamy note which blows off with air. The palate is delectable, with lovely rich fruit and soft, ripe tannins which build into a grippy mouthful on the long, caressing finish. Decanting is essential - this is an extremely youthful wine, with a very long life ahead. A well-drained single-vineyard site, with a Mediterranean character, near the river Ebro. 0.62 hectares of 66 year old vines (65% Tempranillo, 35% Viura - a white grape!) produced a mere 971 bottles. This is approachable now, but will benefit from another 5 years in bottle, and will last well into the 2040s. (JH 17/02/22)
