2017 Jean Grivot Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Secondary Description
A fairly forward young drinker, fragrant and full of fruit. In amongst all the `pretty`, there`s also a touch of burnt hair from the oak which brings an extra savoury note, and which I find entirely characteristic of the domaine. The sweet and savoury elements mesh together appealingly. Rather distinguished for the level, this really shows the quality of sites it has been sourced from. Recommended. (NT 20/02/19)

The 2017 Bourgogne Rouge, which comes from old vines in Vosne-Romanée, has a lifted cranberry and raspberry bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and slightly gourmand in style, leading to a light but quite persistent dark cherry finish. Enjoy over the next two or three years. 87-89 points

A mild touch of reduction currently pushes the fruit to the background but there is good freshness and vibrancy to the delicious middle weight flavors that deliver good persistence on the supple finish that is only mildly rustic. This could easily be enjoyed young or held for a few years as well. 86-88 points
