The 2016 Nahe Riesling Norheimer Kirschheck Spätlese comes from clay-slate soils and offers a very clear and aromatic yet coolish and clayey bouquet of ripe Riesling. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a delicate, balanced and very subtle Spätlese with remarkable finesse and lightness. 92 points

A lovely, site-typical nose favors irresistibly seductive floral perfume of cherry blossom, rowan and honeysuckle, garlanding luscious pear and white peach laced with bright lime. The buoyant palate is subtly creamy yet simultaneously animating and brightly juicy, prompting an irresistible urge to take the next sip long before the superbly-sustained finish has died away. 93 points

A whole plethora of ripe fruit from melon and nectarine to more exotic aromas and even a hint of honey express the generosity of the Kirschheck Spätlese. On the palate the fruit is oozing juice, an exuberance of opulence expertly curtailed by racy acidity and zesty citrus fruit peel. Deliciously sweet, delightfully refreshing. 17.5 points
