Olivier Giroux is a ferocious perfectionist, and from his base in Pouilly-Loche he makes some perfectly judged, delicious wines. The quality and intensity of this Macon is impressive, a display of minerality in competition with lemon and lime fruit. The tension on the front palate draws into the creaminess of the finish, and the whole is lifted by a spritzy energy. The Maconnais is one of the redoubts of economically priced Burgundy, and this bottle represents truly remarkable quality for the money. (NT 17/12/18)
