2015 Donnhoff Tonschiefer Dry Slate Riesling

The 2015 Tonschiefer Trocken is just a whisper riper than the Estate Trocken, coming in at an even twelve percent and the wine is really quite powerfully built and tightly-knit this year. The youthful bouquet offers up scents of white cherry, grapefruit, a touch of petrol, gentle yeasts tones, a fine base of slate and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, fullbodied and brisk, with a great core, fine focus and grip and a very long, intense and quite powerful finish. This will be approachable out of the blocks, but could really do with a couple of years in the cellar to more fully unwind. Drink 2016-2035. 89+ points
