Neal Martin
The 2014 La Lagune has commendable fruit concentration on the nose, with blackberry and wild strawberry, tobacco and light autumn leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins, classical in style and moderate length. A little dryness clips the finish. It`s not bad, even though Haut-Bailly pulls this style off better. Recommended given market prices. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. 91 points but supported by adequate black fruit. This is a classic La Lagune that I think will fill out with barrel maturation (50% new) and turn into a mighty fine La Lagune that will settle at the top of my banded score. 91-93 points
