Superb, chiselled Barolo with an aromatic lift, just entering its drinking window - tannins are present, but ripe and neatly framing rather than dominant. Red fruit, rose petal and a hint of maraschino cherry on the palate. The quality here is enhanced by declassified fruit from the San Lorenzo vineyard, making this wine something of a no-brainer at the price! (JH 05/06/22)

Alessandria`s 2014 Barolo is a gorgeous wine endowed with crystalline tension and purity. Tightly wound and nervous, as so many wines are in this vintage, the Barolo also appears to have quite a bit of potential. Rose petal, lavender, mint and crushed rocks add precision on the close. In 2014, the Barolo includes fruit from San Lorenzo, which was not bottled separately. 89-92 points

Pale garnet. Nice intensity of red cherry at the core, with nut, fresh earth and some rose lift. Sweet, balsamic cherry palate entry, then that hint of dilution on the mid palate, common to so many 2014s. Fine, fairly firm tannins that are well-judged for the palate density. Nice and elegant. Fair length. 16.5 points
