The 2014 Clos Fourtet has an extremely perfumed and floral bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry and a touch of orange peel and vanilla pod. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, crisp acidity, harmonious and poised, with a long mineral-driven finish that retains a sense of classicism and style. Serious...but delicious. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. 94 points

The Cabernet Sauvignon seems a little less prominent on this wine than it can be at this stage, but it`s still an unusual Saint Emilion with more rigour and focus than many of its peers. Aromatic, green pepper and grassy notes are complemented by freshness and supporting tannic structure. 93 points
