2014 Arlaud Gevrey-Chambertin Combottes

Secondary Description
A big part of this vineyard is 98 years old, but you do need some younger vines as well to give a better balance to the wine. The Gevrey Combottes was showing very graphite and mineral when tasted - a bit reduced - but has good cherry fruit. Slightly robust compared to the Chambolles, but in character as a Gevrey. Neal Martin

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru aux Combottes has a delightful bouquet that offers light earthy, almost mulchy red fruit. It just needs a little more harmony. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, the quality of this terroir expressed more in the mouth than on the nose at the moment, with a dash of white pepper on the finish. This is certainly one of the better 2014 Combottes that I tasted from barrel. 91-93 points
