The 2014 Arlaud Clos de la Roche sees 30% new oak, but this is largely invisible. This is a feminine wine, subtle with the greatest finesse on the tannin front. Plenty of mineral content, delicate fruit and with a real spine. (CW 5/11/15)

The 2014 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, of which there are seven barrels this year, has a detailed, `cool` bouquet that gradually unfurls in the glass, offering Morello, crushed strawberry and cold limestone scents. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine tannin, gently gripping the mouth, with the mineral core very expressive on the finish. This is the standout 2014 from Cyprièn this vintage. 93-95 points

The Arlauds’ 0.43-hectare parcel is in the Mochamps lieu-dit of Clos de la Roche, rather than the original part, but that doesn’t seem to have any bearing on quality. Complex, nuanced and chalky, this is perfumed and refined, with subtle whole bunch spice and amazing length. Drink 2020-30. 96 points
