This is, as far as Luca Roagna is concerned, a young vine cuvée as the vines in question were only planted 45 years before the 2012 harvest. Be that as it may, this is one impressive wine. Great, classic aromatics followed by a ripe, sweet attack. The Pajè is very structured but soft. In the mouth it is linear, ripe, elegant and strict but still has the fruit. The texture is lovely with very finely woven tannins. Pajè finishes on its perfume. It is a very long finish from a wine with nothing out of place. (CW 04/12/17)

Roagna`s 2012 Barbaresco Pajè opens with striking aromatics. Spice, leather, sweet tobacco, hard candy and dried cherry notes lift from the glass, but it is the purity and sweetness of the fruit that really stands out. The decision to shorten the amount of time the wines spent in barrel is evident in the wine`s freshness. Polished tannins give the 2012 tons of near and medium term appeal. What a gorgeous wine this is. 95 points
