Bourbon hogshead no. 1938, single cask, 305 bottles produced
Ben Nevis Distillery is exactly where you think it should be, at the foot of the mountain, and of course it draws its water from a burn fed by springs and pools halfway up the mountain. (If you treat yourself to a dram, you are drinking Ben Nevis in more ways than one). The distillery was founded in 1825 by the notably tall ‘Long John’ MacDonald, a character of his day who also gave his name to the Long John brand of blended Scotch. This bottling is a beautiful showcase of a classic Highland whisky, as much oatcake and peppermint as it is heather and honey. (NT 19/06/25)
