2010 Glendullan, AD Rattray 14 yo 56.7%
Secondary Description
Bourbon hogshead (10 years) then Oloroso sherry hogshead (40 months), 283 bottles produced
Matured in a Bourbon hogshead for 10 years then a first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead for 40 months.
Speyside distillery Glendullan goes a little under the radar now, but when it was founded in 1898 by a firm of Aberdonian whisky blenders, it made a big smash. It quickly became a favourite of King Edward VII, to whom it was supplied by royal request. These days, most of the production goes into the version for the US market of the Singleton label, and it’s quite rare to see independent bottlings. But this is lovely. It has all the rich, woody sweetness of a classic Speyside malt that has gone through a sherry cask – think fudgy caramel, gingerbread and custard. (NT 19/06/25)
