The Nuits-Murgers is truffly and gamy in the nose with good complexity. In the mouth, the wine is smooth, abut not especially deep, with complexity to its truffly red and dark fruits. 88-91 points

(13.8% alcohol) Palish medium red. Redcurrant, raspberry, smoky oak and exotic spices on the nose, plus some floral high notes. Then sweet, fat and juicy, with plenty of lush fruit and a slight alcoholic warmth. Finishes broad but could use more lift. A second sample from an older barrel. More spice and pepper on the nose. Sweet and expressive in the mouth, with a distinctly high-toned character. This wine will be best for early drinking. Van Canneyt notes that the Murgers is always high in grape sugar, with the fruit verging on jammy. 88-90 points

Quite subtle hints of violets and mushrooms. Lovely transparency and expression. Though perhaps not for the very long term. GV. Drink 2014-2020 17.5 points
