Bourbon HH - Speyside
Hard to find (a mile north-west of the tiny hamlet of Mulben), difficult to pronounce (‘Orth-rusk’) and mainly bottled under a different name (Singleton), you’d be forgiven for thinking Diageo want to keep Auchroisk a secret. But this is just superb. Spice and citrus, coffee and humbug, a serving of treacle sponge - the very epitome of a fine Speyside malt, with the complex patina that only long age can bring to a whisky. A true meditation malt. (NT 05/12/19)
