Well-judged balance between floral aromatics and berry fruit, and a smoky grilled cedar wave of oak, has a cheerful vibrant violet edge to the colour, but the acditiy cuts things off on the finish. 35% new oak for ageing. The 2024 La Tour de By is laced with blackberry, chocolate, spice and copious sweet oak. It shows good depth, but a slightly oxidative note in the bouquet suggests this sample is less than perfect. 85-88 points

The 2024 La Tour de By has a light bouquet with brambly red fruit giving way to touches of tobacco and mocha. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly crunchy tannins, but there is an appealing classicism to this Medoc with freshness on the finish. Enjoy over five to six years. 86-88 points
