The 2024 Geronimo is pure Cinsault, reduced by 60% this year due to small berries and millerandage, 50% whole bunch and matured in used French oak. This has a highly aromatic nose with dark cherries, potpourri and blood oranges that soar from the glass. Beautiful definition. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, quite piquant in style with so much freshness and vitality, citrus-like towards the finish. Impossible not to enjoy this. 92 points

Yields were way down in 2024 - almost half of what they were in 2023 - so there will be less of this impressive wine to go round. A suitably serious expression of Stellenbosch Cinsault, it has gentle rose petal and nutmeg aromas, a touch of Turkish Delight, and an unusually dense, focused palate, with clove spice from 50% whole bunches, plum and black cherry fruit and a spine of tannin. 93 points
