Full bottle 1,279 g. Screwcap. From a mixed 1969 planting of four clones which was replicated in 1981 and 1984. A bit of whole bunch in the fermentation.
Strawberries and silk with a sassy cut of hibiscus acidity. The tannins sashay nonchalantly through the long line of the wine, throwing confetti drifts of cumin and caraway in their wake. Masses of fruit and flavour, earthiness and ripeness but retaining Pinot’s kindly aloof elegance. In ballgown and work boots. My kind of wine. 17.5 points

The 2023 Pinot Noir is red fruited and so pretty, with a nose and palate to match. There is red cherry, strawberry, dried herbs, saffron and sandalwood, garden roses and spice. The tannins on the palate are pliable and fine, and the whole package just feels streamlined and balanced. Lovely wine. 94 points
