2023 Henri Gouges Nuits-St-Georges
Secondary Description
An assemblage of 6 climats all towards the south end of the village, and mostly at the foot of the slope: Les Plateaux, Les Belles Croix, Les Fleurieres, Les Brulees, Les Chaliots and Les Crots. All destemmed, as is the practise at Gouges, vinified in concrete tank then raised in barrels, 10% new. Juicy red cherry fruit, with a sapid line of acidity. A great snapshot of Nuits-St-Georges, and of the vintage, with some real drinking pleasure ahead. (NT 17/12/24)

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Village, matured in 15% new oak, takes a little while to settle in the glass, revealing quite plush red fruit, touches of brown spice and dark chocolate. The palate is quite tannic on the entry, then settles down to a more harmonious mid-palate. Hints of salted licorice and tobacco emerge toward the slightly dry finish. 87 points

Bright mid purple. A heady ripe nose, tastes like a sunnier year despite not picking late and keeping a sensible degree. Plenty of energy on the palate, fresh plums and vivid dark raspberries, with good length. Bottled in September. 91 points
