2023 Rapet Pernand-Vergelesses En Caradeux
Secondary Description
En Caradeux is a high-sited, east-facing vineyard looking over the valley to grand cru En Charlemagne. Most of En Caradeux is premier cru, apart from the very top section just below the tree line. Rapet’s En Caradeux is all within the premier cru section. This shows generous, ripe citrus and orchard fruit, with an initially gentle mouthfeel acquiring momentum and energy towards the rear palate. Pleasant drinking already, with a moreish, more mineral finish. Not a high acid style, but there is certainly enough acidity for this to spend some years in bottle gaining depth and texture. Their holding touches the restaurant Le Charlemagne. 20% has been made in egg and 20% in new wood. Mid lemon yellow. There is clearly more density here in En Caradeux and a more balanced ripeness. Excellent on the palate with the sunshine just showing in a couple of more exotic fruit notes alongside the core fresh white orchard fruit. Notable length, with just the right acidity. 90-92 points
