Ile des Vergelesses is a Pernand premier cru sandwiched on the border between the Savigny Vergelesses and the Puligny Vergelesses. It has an excellent aspect, at mid-slope, looking south-east, far enough down the road from Pernand not to be in the shadow of the hill of Corton. The Rapet vines are mostly over 50 years old. Wildflower, strawberry and meadowherb aromas. In the mouth, sweet tannins, good minerality, excellent length, sapidity. Not big but elegant, appealing and drinkable. (NT 23/12/24)

One third of the vines were planted in 2008 and two-thirds mostly 1956. Mid crimson ruby with a sense of extra depth to the nose, much less floral. Fine intensity but usefully understated, some spicier notes to finish. This will take time to develop all its character. 90-93 points
